Vermont is well known for its farm fresh food and especially for being Mecca of sorts for craft beer geeks. If you find yourself in the Green Mountain State, check out these favorite Vermont Craft Beer Restaurants.

Prohibition Pig

Anytime I hear that someone is traveling to the Waterbury area, I always recommend they stop at Pro Pig. They offer one of the largest and finest craft beer menus in New England, featuring a few house brewed beers and a large selection of Vermont’s finest craft. Their menu features barbeque and American fare, made from the freshest local ingredients and meats.

Worthy Kitchen

Located in Woodstock, Vermont, “The Kitchen” has been serving up delectable dishes made from farm fresh ingredients since 2013.  This self described “farm diner” offers a rotating menu featuring comfort food like buttermilk fried chicken, and Worthy Poutine — hand-cut french fries, covered in Vermont cheddar cheese curds, thick-cut peppered bacon, and duck fat gravy.

Worthy Kitchen and its sister restaurant, Worthy Burger, have become well known in Vermont’s Upper Valley for their amazing draught beer lists, which focus on Vermont’s finest microbreweries and include some of New England’s best craft brewers. On any given day, you’re likely to find offerings from Hill Farmstead, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Maine Beer Company, and Jack’s Abby. Their extensive beer list covers almost every style of beer you can imagine, from lighter lagers and pilsners to your hoppy IPA’s and heavier imperial stouts.

Gift Ideas for Craft Beer Lovers

Whetstone Station Restaurant & Brewery

Whetstone is located in Brattleboro, Vermont, right on the New Hampshire / Vermont border. They offer a varied selection of local beers and ciders, as well as a few house-brewed beers.  I highly recommend the Grade A Tropical IPA.

My favorite thing about Whetstone, aside from the amazing food and beer, is the rooftop Bier Garten, overlooking the Connecticut River.

Recommended dish:  Tim’s Awesome Burger – Vermont cheddar cheese, maple bacon, and… peanut butter. Yes, peanut butter.  Trust me; it’s amazing.
